John G. Friend, II, 63, a lifelong resident of Springfield, died at 4:10 p.m. on Wednesday, March 21, 2007 at home. John was born on January 15, 1944 in Springfield, the son of John Galen, Sr. and Amanda Gertrude Friend. He served with the Air National Guard and was a self-employed laborer. John was active in Masonic and Shrine activities and is survived by many friends. Cremation was accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center. Memorial Ceremonies will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 10, 2007 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home with Scott Brindley officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Oak Hill Cemetery.
