

John Hauptman, 87, of Taylorville, formerly of Springfield, died at 7:05 p.m., Saturday, November 26, 2005 at Pana Community Hospital in Pana. John was born on March 4, 1918 in Huntington, AR the son of Joe and Theresa Mizec Hauptman. He married Mary M. Kristian on March 25, 1942 in Chicago; she preceded him in death on July 26, 2005. Mr. Hauptman was a graduate of Nokomis High School. He worked as a laborer for Pillsbury Mills in Springfield where he later retired. He was a member of International Grain Millers Union. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during WWII. He was also preceded in death by his parents and two sisters: Matilda “Tillie” Brueckner and Lillian Starman. He is survived by one daughter: Annette Koontz of Ashmore; two grandchildren: John (wife, Sujata) Koontz of Champaign, Josh (wife, Leanna) Koontz of Charleston; five great grandchildren: Willow Koontz of Charleston, Teklii and Sia Koontz of Champaign, Indryan Dey and Kris –Chand Dey both of Champaign; two sisters: Amy (husband, Ray) Brueckner of Largo, FL and Justine AnDavis of FL; five nieces and six nephews. Cremation will be accorded by the Cremation Tribute Center. Graveside services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 25, 2005 at at Camp Butler National Cemetery where the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County will conduct military honors. The family of John Hauptman is being served by Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home and Cremation Tribute Center, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield.
