

John T. “Tom” Hill, Jr., 87, of Springfield, died at 9:58 p.m. February 27, 2004 at Lewis Memorial Christian Village. Tom was born September 13, 1916 in Pawnee the son of John Thomas, Sr. and Leona Minder Hill. He married Lillian Filkins Hill in 1946 in Petersburg; she preceded him in death in 1982. Mr. Hill was a machinist for Weavers and retired after 30 years of service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during WWII. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and St. Agnes Catholic Church. He was also preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Dorothy Henson. He is survived by one son: John (wife, Lisa) Tomlin of Springfield; two daughters: Leanna Tomlin and Nancy Crawford both of Springfield; five grandchildren; one great grandchild; two sisters: Helen Baietto of Kincaid, Betty Henson of Paris; one brother: Vern (wife, Drucilla) Hill of Pawnee and several nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will receive friends from 10 – 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 3, 2004 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 3, 2004 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home with Rev. Peter Harman and Pastor Kreston Lipscomb officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery where the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County will conduct military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Protective League1001 Taintor Rd, Springfield, IL 62702-1766.
