John was born on January 18, 1923 in Jennyland, AR, the son of Frank and Ann Mocivnik Klinc. He married Ann Shimkus and she preceded him in death on September 25, 1999.
John was a homebuilder in Springfield and a member of the VFW Northenders Post 10302. He enjoyed working in his vegetable garden.
He was also preceded in death by his parents and son, John Klinc.
He is survived by his daughter, Roseann Hopwood of Springfield, two granddaughters, Leanne Hopwood of Springfield and Elizabeth (husband, Travis) Newton of Bettendorf, IA; one great-granddaughter, Josie; siblings, Henry (wife, Pat) Klinc and Helen Klinc, both of Springfield; and a few nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends from 9:00 10:00 on Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. A funeral ceremony will follow at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Tom Donovan officiating.
Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
