I remember John when I was a plastic surgery resident at the University of New Mexico. We shared many memories of our times in Chicago and he had a great sense of humor like me. He motivated me to have a partially academic career and I am now retired. All the best to Lilian...Tom Narsete

Dr John Kucan was one of the nicest men I’ve ever been associated with. I knew him from SIU school of medicine plastic surgery dept. What a loss. My thoughts  and prayers are with his family right now.

I am a Paradigm Network Manager and have had the absolute pleasure of working with Dr Kucan in the medical care of an injured worker.  As a newer Network Manager, I was so appreciative of his kindness, compassion and willingness to put forth his knowledge and expertise as well as his ability to treat the staff as family.  I am deeply saddened to hear of his passing and wish to pass along to his family my sympathies and prayers for peace and strength.  He has truly touched so many lives and all are blessed by that. Dr. Kucan was an outstanding Paradigm Medical Director who helped our nurses, internal staff and insurance company contacts to understand and provide compassionate care for people with burn injuries.  His expertise made a difference in the lives of our patients and his dedication and passion were palpable.  Our prayers are with his family.

Dr. Kucan was one of the best Paradigm Medical Directors I have ever worked with.  His compassion and love for those he helped was clearly evident.  He impacted so many lives.  He will be missed.  Much love and prayer to his family at this very sad time.

To the Kucan Family I meet Dr. Kucan when he joined Paradigm as a medical consultant.  Not only was Dr. Kucan an expert in his medical specialization, he was a warm and kind person.  Through our meetings, I spent more time with Dr. Kucan and got to know him as John.  It was my great privilege to have known him and to have worked with him.  The world is a lessor place without him.  Dr. Kucan was held in very high regard by all at Paradigm.  You have my deepest sympathy for your loss. I had the opportunity to work with John on many surgery cases here at SIU.  He was a very good teacher and doctor who truly cared for his patients. I met Dr. Kucan as a patient in the Memorial Medical Center Burn Unit in January of 1994. I was involved in a high voltage electrical accident here in Springfield. Dr. Kucan cared for me over the course of the next months helping me to overcome my injuries and return to work. I would see him in public and he always remembered me and made it point to speak and see how I was doing. Dr. Kucan you will be missed by all who met you.
