He was born in Palermo, Sicily on July 19, 1938, the son of Vito and Gasparina (Randazzo) Lapiccola.
John graduated from Lanphier High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy. One of John’s most treasured possessions was his 1969 Chevelle Malibu. He also enjoyed fishing, dancing, collecting coins, and grabbing a cup of coffee with his friends. Most of all, John cherished his Boston Terrier, Baby.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Rose Volkman.
John is survived by his children, Lisa Lapiccola of Springfield, Tressa Putnam of Springfield, Vito Lapiccola of Los Angeles, CA, Angela (Shawn) Ley of Springfield, and John Lapiccola of Springfield; grandchildren, Emelia (Ben) Foster, Caitlin (Andre) Williams, Morgan Fargusson, and Taylor (Jake) House; and great-grandchildren, Graciella Williams, Delaney Foster, Marshall Beck, Giada Williams, Charlotte House and Asher Foster.
Graveside Ceremony: 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at Camp Butler National Cemetery with military honors.
