

John Alexander Lefferts, 22, of Athens, died at 12:20 p.m. Monday, October 11, 2004 at Memorial Medical Center. John was born November 7, 1981 in Springfield the son of Larry and Vivian Wetzstein Lefferts. Mr. Lefferts was a graduate of Williamsville High School. He attended Lincoln Land Community College and was currently attending Midwest Technical Institute in the Massage Therapy Program. He was employed by Memorial Medical Center in patient transport and central supply. He was a member of Boy Scout Pack and Troop 330 in Sherman. At Lincoln Land Community College, he was a member of College Republicans, Model Illinois Government, choir and Madrigals. He was a former member of St. John Vianney Church in Sherman. He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Walter Wetzstein, Eleanor Hayes Lefferts and F. Raymond Lefferts. He is survived by his parents: Larry and Vivian Lefferts of Athens; sister: Eleanor Lefferts of Athens; grandmother: Pauline Wetzstein of Godfrey; great grandmother: Vivian Wetstein of Alton and various aunts, uncles and cousins. Family will receive friends from 4-7:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 13, 2004 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 14, 2004 at Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 524 E. Lawrence Ave., Springfield, IL 62702 with Rev. Msgr. John R. Ossola celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Springfield Right to Life, 316 E. Monroe, Springfield, IL 62701. The family of John Alexander Lefferts is being served by Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield.
