

John A. Robertson, 59, of Springfield, died at 10:55 a.m. on Monday, December 18, 2006 at his residence. He was born on November 17, 1947 in Peoria, the son of Paul and Jeannette Hoeferer Robertson. He received his Bachelor’s Degrees in both English and History from Murray State University. He was a member of Lord of the Harvest Church and the Illinois Thoroughbred Breeders Association. He was employed with the Illinois Department of Public Aid from 1972 to 1980 and he then began working for ArcVentures where he became the CEO. He loved horses and enjoyed learning about horse racing history. He also loved History and liked to write papers and volunteer as an historical tour guide. He coached little league soccer and basketball through the years for his children. John was a gentleman who loved to laugh and had an incredible sense of humor. He worked very hard throughout his life and enjoyed the time he was able to spend with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister: Nancy Spencer. He is survived by two sons: Drew (wife, Niki) Robertson of Oakland, IL and Tim Robertson of Springfield; two step-sons: Daniel O’Dell of California and Shawn O’Dell of Springfield; one step-daughter: Samantha O’Dell of Springfield; two grandchildren: Julia and Justin Robertson of Oakland, IL; one sister: Patricia (husband, Bob) Myers of Peoria; one brother: Stuart (wife, Judy) Robertson of Phoenix, AZ and several nieces and nephews. Cremation accorded by the Cremation Tribute Center, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield Memorial Ceremonies will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, December 22, 2006 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Visitation will follow Memorial Ceremonies until 6:00 p.m. The family of John A. Robertson is being served by Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield.
