

He was born on November 25, 1922 in Anchor, IL, the son of the late Elmer John and Mildred (Burns) Seifert. He married Eunice Stern in December of 1960 in Cooksville, IL and she survives.
Mr. Seifert was a self-employed farmer. He graduated from Anchor High School and attended Illinois Wesleyen College. He was a fine musician and vocalist. He was a member of the Gibson City Cornbelt Chorus and several quartets. He then became a longstanding member of the Bloomington Barber Shop Chorjs and sang in the Hamiltonian Barber Shop quartet for 10 years. He played the piano and composed songs for the quartet. Mr. Seifert also served as a trustee of the Anchor Cemetery and was a former member of the Farm Bureau in Bloomington, IL. He was a school bus driver for over 20 years for Octavia School District, now Ridgeview School District. Mr. Seifert was a very active member of Anchor United Methodist Church, holding several offices, singing in the choir, and was director of the youth choir. He was a member of the Moose Lodge #745 and the Elks Lodge, both in Bloomington, IL.
Arrangements are under the direction of Bisch Funeral Home West, 2931 S. Koke Mill Rd., Springfield. Per his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. A private family memorial service will be held at a later time.
Memorials may be made to the Anchor Fire Department, Octavia District or to an education fund for John’s grandchildren.
