He was born Mar. 26, 1924 in Robinson the son of James Allen and Irene Montgomery Smith. He married Maxine Kretzer June 4, 1950. Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his son David Smith in 1966. He was also preceded in death by his parents and 4 brothers.
Mr. Smith was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He retired from Fiat-Allis and worked at Knights of Columbus Council 364. He was a member of First United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Maxine; daughter, Glenda (husband, Lew) Thomas of Pawnee and grandson, Kevin Thomas (fiancé Lacey Stone) of Maryville. He is also survived by one sister, Waneta McCann of Bloomington, IN.
Friends may call Wednesday July 7, 2010 at Boardman-Smith Funeral Chapel from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services there at 11:00 A.M. with Dr. Robert Swickard officiating. Interment will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
