John E. Stark

John E. Stark, age 92, of Springfield passed away at 2:19 p.m. on Sunday, June 30, 2002 at St. John’s Hospital. Mr. Stark was born on August 6, 1909 in Shenandoah, PA, the son of George and Mary Darren Stark. He married Helen P. Poska on November 7, 1937 in Springfield, Illinois. Mr. Stark retired from the State of Illinois Department of Transportation in 1973 after 33 years of service as a Professional Engineer. He was a member of St. Agnes Church. He was a golden member of Elk’s Lodge 158. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister: Edith Lancaster. Surviving are his wife, Helen P. Stark of Springfield, two sons: John David Stark of Winter Garden, FL and Robert Allen Stark of Springfield; one brother: Robert G. Stark of Chicago; two grandchildren: Stacia (husband, John) Gerding of Springfield and Amy Stark of Chicago; three great grandsons. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 2, 2002 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a wake service at 5:00 p.m.at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home. Concelebrated funeral mass will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 3, 2002 at St. Agnes Church with Very Reverend Patrick J. Wright VF, principal celebrant. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. The family of John E. Stark is being served by Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield, IL.
