

Dr. John C. Teich, 83, of Springfield, died at 4:40 pm on Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at St. John's hospice. John was born June 11, 1931, in St. Paul, MN, the son of Chester and Marion (Whaley) Teich. He married Barbara Bachman on June 16, 1956, at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Mosinee, WI. After graduating from Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI, with a Doctorate of Medicine in 1957, he proudly served in the United States Army from 1957-1965, retiring with the rank of Major. Dr. Teich served his medical internship at Fort Lewis, WA, and his residency in OB/GYN at Walter Reed Army Hospital in Washington D.C. He finished his final four years of service working in OB/GYN at Fort Meade, MD. After an honorable discharge from the Army, Dr.Teich entered the practice of Obstetrics & Gynecology with Dr. H. Penning and Dr. J. Marty, of Springfield, IL. On staff at St. John's Hospital and Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, Dr. Teich was also an associate clinical professor in OB/GYN at SIU School of Medicine in Springfield, IL. He was very active in the OB/GYN practice until his retirement in June of 1996. John was very proud of his children and family. He enjoyed classical music, reading, attending plays, traveling and visiting family and friends. He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Parish. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Teich; six sons, Joseph(wife, Rhonda) Teich of Ormond Beach, FL, David (wife, Monica) Teich of Cozumel, MX, Daniel (wife, Joyce)Teich of St. Joseph, MI, Michael (wife, Valerie) Teich D.D.S. of Scottsdale, AZ, John (wife, Shawnee) Teich, Jr., of Phoenix, AZ, and Thomas (wife, Nadia) Teich D.D.S. of Newport Beach, CA; twelve grandchildren, Andrew, Erica, Jessica, Geronimo, Amanda, Christopher, Sarah Jane, Ryan, Christina, Cameron, Caroline, and Conner; one brother, Richard (wife, Teresa) Teich D.D. S. of Post Falls, ID; and many nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 5:00 9:00 pm on Friday, March 27, 2015 at Christ the King Parish, 1930 Barberry Drive, Springfield, IL. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 5:00 p.m. Funeral Mass: 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 28, 2015 at Christ the King Parish, with Rev. Joseph R. Ring, celebrant and Rev. Msgr. David S.
