John S. Warrington

John S. Warrington, 76, of Springfield, died at 5:43 p.m. on March 30, 2006 at Memorial Medical Center. John was born on August 17, 1929 in Arkansas, the son of Daniel Oliver and Ethel Ann Huckaby Warrington. He married Dorothy Greenan on December 29, 1969 in Springfield. John was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was employed with the State of Illinois from 1972 until his retirement in 1996 as a Stationary Engineer from the Office of the Secretary of State. He was currently employed as a House Employee with the Illinois House of Representatives, 94th General Assembly. John was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church. He liked attending his grandkids sporting events, the St. Louis Cardinals, and traveling. John was a very outgoing, caring gentleman who loved to tell stories and spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother and two sisters. He is survived by his wife Dorothy Warrington of Springfield; two sons: Dr. John D. (wife, Christine) Warrington of Springfield and Anthony Warrington of Florida; two daughters: Patricia (husband, John) Dickinson of Pleasant Plains and Deborah (husband, Dave) Steinkuehler of Springfield; one sister: Beady Eubanks of Springfield; eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, April 3, 2006 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Prayer service will begin at 5:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 4, 2006 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 2119 N. 20th St., Springfield with Rev. Donald Meehling celebrant. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery where the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County will perform military honors.
