

He was born Aug. 3, 1919 in Clarksville, MO, the son of the late Richard and Rosa (VanDyke) Weir.
He was a member of St. John A.M.E. Church in Springfield and served on the Steward Board, member of the choir and Lay organization. He served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945. He retired from Fiat-Allis in 1983 after 32 years.
He married Hattie L. Douglas in 1941, and she preceded him in death in 1976. He later married Doris E. Holman in 1978 and she preceded him in death in 1995. He then married Delphine Boyd in 1997 and she survives.
Besides his wife Delphine, he is survived by 5 daughters, Mary Weir of Los Angeles, CA, RoseWeir of Springfield, Violet Greenwood of Lisle, IL, Nora (husband Rudy) Boswell of Springfield, and Deborah (husband Mark) Haynes of Springfield, 10 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, step children, step-grandchildren, and step great-grandchildren. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Besides his parents and his first 2 wives, he was preceded in death by 2 daughters, Evelyn Morgan and Doris Gray, a sister Eliza Turner, and a brother Reginald Weir.
Services are under the direction of Bisch and Son Funeral Home, 505 E. Allen, Springfield. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2011 from 10 am until time of the funeral service at 11 am at St. John A.M.E. Church in Springfield, with Rev. Charles Jackson officiating. According to his wishes, cremation rites will then be accorded. Inurnment at Camp Butler National Cemetery will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John A.M.E. Church or to the family.
