

Joseph M. Cody, 44, of Springfield, died at 5:43 p.m. on Thursday, October 29, 2015 at Memorial Medical Center. Joseph was born November 12, 1970 in Springfield, the son of Joseph and Marjorie Rape Cody. He married Lori K. Parn on August 25, 2007 in Rochester. Joseph was a graduate of Chatham High School and proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He worked for Aramark Corp. and played for Springfield Buccaneers Semi Pro Football League as a wide receiver and linebacker. Joseph enjoyed holiday decorating, especially Christmas, and loved to dance, sing and cook, and was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Lori Cody of Springfield; three sons, Alex Matheis of Pawnee, Kolton and Korbin Cody, both of Springfield; two daughters, Abbie Matheis of Pawnee and Cassidy Bruns of Springfield; one brother, Christopher Woods of Jacksonville; two sisters, Debra Hinton of Chatham and Angela (husband, Cliff) Buscher of Springfield; two nieces and eight nephews; and one great-niece and one great-nephew. Cremation was accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies. Memorial Ceremony: 3:00 p.m. on Monday, November 9, 2015 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield with Celebrant Judy Woerner officiating..
