Joseph Martin Eddington Jr., 73, of Springfield, died at 9:55 p.m., Friday, August 5, 2005 at Springfield Terrace. Joseph was born December 21, 1931 in Springfield the son of Joseph Martin and Rose Cecelia Wilson Eddington. Mr. Eddington attended Cathedral High School. He was employed as a repairman for Goodwill; a member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by three brothers: James L. (companion, Terry), William P. (wife, Ann) and Thomas E. (wife, Jean) Eddington all of Springfield; six sisters: Sister M. Trinita Eddington, O.P. of Jackson, MS, Eileen Drendel, Mary Riddle and Rose Blakley all of Springfield, Patricia (husband, George) Fleck of Sherman, Judy (husband, Ron) Blakley of Riceville, IA and several nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends from 5-7:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 9, 2005 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield. Funeral Mass will be at 9:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 10, 2005 at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, 1020 N. Milton, Springfield with Rev. Richard L. Chiola celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, 1020 N. Milton, Springfield, IL 62702.
