

Joseph E. Richardson, 87, of Springfield, died at 2:20 a.m. on Saturday, September 08, 2012 at St. John's Hospice. Joseph was born June 30, 1925 in Springfield, the son of George and Stella Masters Richardson. He married Helen Donini on October 25, 1947; she preceded in him death on April 8, 2012. Joseph was a graduate of Lanphier High School and worked as a service manager for SCM Calculating. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Joseph was a member of Rod & Reel Club and the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed hunting, golfing, fishing, traveling to Myrtle Beach and Hawaii, and the St. Louis Cardinals. He was also preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Mary; and one brother, Rollie. He is survived by one daughter, Jo Ellyn (husband, Joseph "Jim") Losch of Alton; two grandchildren, Allyson Losch of Alton and Corey Losch of Hartford; three great-grandchildren, Alec, Toby and Anthony Losch; two sisters-in-law, Frances McCue and Kathryn Refine, both of Springfield; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Visitation: The family will receive friends from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 5:30 p.m. Funeral Mass: 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 2119 N. 20th St., Springfield, with Rev. Msgr. Carl A. Kemme celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
