Joy Allen, 75, of Springfield, IL passed away at 3:34 a.m. on Thursday, February 3, 2011 at St. John's Hospital Hospice. She was a loving wife, devoted mother and grandmother. She was born April 5, 1935 the daughter of Paul T. and Charlotte D. Holle Dawson. She married Robert A. Allen on August 21, 1956 in Terre Haute, IN. She is preceded in death by her parents. Joy is survived by her husband Robert; three sons, Craig W. Allen of Tulsa, OK, Kirk E. (wife, Kerry) Allen of Kansas, IL and their son, Nicholas of Slidell, LA and Matthew P. (wife, Donna) Allen and their sons, Mark and Gregory of Naperville, IL; sister, Bess (husband, Frank) Bailey of The Villages, FL; and brother, William Dawson of St. Anne, MO In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Siteman Cancer Institute at Barnes Jewish Hospital, 660 S. Euclid Ave., Box 8100, St. Louis, MO 63110. A memorial service will be held for family and close friends on Thursday, February 10, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield.
