Joyce Ann Stevens

Joyce Ann Stevens, 71, of Springfield, died at 10:02 p.m. on Friday, September 2, 2011 at her home. Joyce was born in Springfield on September 7, 1939, the daughter of Howard and Florence Behl Ruble. She married James "Jim" H. Stevens on May 15, 1954 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Springfield. Joyce worked as a data entry operator for the IL Department of Revenue until her retirement in 1995. She enjoyed crocheting, drawing and sewing. She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Martin "Marty" Stevens; great-grandson, Keith Straub; and a sister, Beverly Ruble. She is survived by her husband, Jim Stevens of Springfield; her children, Jimmy (wife, Debbie) Stevens and Bill Stevens, both of Springfield, Teresa (husband, Les) Straub of Riverton and Gail Stevens of Indianapolis, IN; eleven grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; two sisters, LaVerne (husband, Robert) Malham of Carlinville and Carolyn Brown of Girard; one brother, Howard (wife, Margaret) Ruble of Springfield; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral ceremony at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 8, 2011 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home with Rev. Msgr. Thomas P. Holinga officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
