

Kay was born May 10, 1942, in Springfield, IL, the daughter of Earl H. Sr. and Margaret A. Gobble Hanselman.
She graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in 1960 and earned her associate degree from Lincoln Land Community College. Kay then went on to earn her bachelor’s degree from Sangamon State University. She was employed at St. John’s Hospital for twelve years, Contact Ministries for seven years, and was a preschool teacher for six years. Kay enjoyed traveling, caring for her garden, reading, and collecting handkerchiefs and Irish items. Kay loved spending time with her family, and her most rewarding accomplishment was raising her children.
She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Peggy Havenar, Earl Hanselman, Jr., Michael and his wife, Billie Hanselman, Charles Hanselman, and Janet Carls.
Kay is survived by her daughters, Angie Meneghetti and Amie C. Meneghetti, both of Springfield; sons, Anthony Meneghetti of Lafayette, CO, and Nick (wife, Elisha) Meneghetti of Rockford, IL; and several nieces and nephews, including her very special niece, Cindy Miller of Fort Myers, FL.
Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 24, 2023, at Boardman-Smith Funeral Home, 800 South Grand Avenue West, Springfield, IL. Visitation will begin with a prayer service.
Funeral Mass: 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 25, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1345 N. 6th St., Springfield with Rev. Manuel P. Cuizon, Ph.D., celebrant.
Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s Hospice and the Animal Protective League.
