Kathryn Raffa

Kathryn "Katie" Rose Raffa, 33, of Springfield, passed away at 8:02 p.m. on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at her residence. Katie was born on August 17, 1983 in Springfield, the daughter of Mark S. and Annette Rose Nuxoll Raffa. Katie was a 2001 graduate of Sacred Heart-Griffin High School. She was employed by the State of IL for 9 years. She was beautiful inside and out and was extremely protective. She loved her family and friends, as well as all the children she came into contact with and helped raise. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, John Raffa, D.C. and maternal grandfather, Arthur Nuxoll. She is survived by her mother, Annette Raffa of Springfield; her father, Mark (wife, Donna) Raffa of Springfield; grandparents, Mildred Raffa of Lincoln and Theresa Nuxoll of Effingham; one sister, Hailey Raffa of Springfield; step-brother, Jason (wife, Jenny) Fries of MO; step-sister, Natalie (husband, Jason) Cain of Rochester; five aunts and uncles, John Raffa of Northbrook, IL, Doug Raffa of Springfield, Danny (wife, Daci) Raffa of Lincoln, Mary Jo (husband, Greg) Pemberton of Mt. Vernon, IL, and David Nuxoll of Dickson, TN; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:30 until 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 15, 2017 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service. Funeral Mass: 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 16, 2017 at St. Aloysius Church, 2000 East Sangamon Avenue, Springfield with Rev. Clinton Honkomp, O.P., celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made directly to Katies family or to a charity of the donors choice.
