

Kenneth “Butch” DeVault Sr., 70, a lifelong resident of Springfield, passed away on Friday, June, 12, 2015, at St. John’s Hospital. Butch was born on September 28, 1944, in Springfield, the son of the late Frederick P. and Mary Lucille (Buhl) DeVault. Butch married Nancy Ann Ashbaker on December 1, 1966 in Springfield. They shared 48 years of marriage together until she preceded him in death on February 5, 2014. Butch was also preceded in death by a brother Frederick P. DeVault Jr., and a sister Maribelle Ames.
Butch worked for many years at Horace Mann as a computer technician until he retired. Outside of work he was a member of Ducks Unlimited, he enjoyed fishing, collecting different items, fixing and tinkering with anything, traveling, spending time with family and friends, and especially spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving Butch is his children; Kenneth DeVault Jr. (Julie) and Rick DeVault (Angela) both of Springfield, his grandchildren: Andrew (Melissa), Monica, Dakota, and Bethaney DeVault, great-granddaughter Charlee Grace DeVault, as well as several nieces nephews and cousins.
Funeral services are under the direction of Bisch & Son Funeral Home, 505 E Allen St., Springfield, IL 62703, where a visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 from 4-7 p.m. Cremation rites will be accorded by Bisch & Son Funeral Home.
Those who wish may leave a memorial in Butch’s name to the charity of the donor’s choice.
