

Ken was born on April 22, 1949, in Yonkers, NY, the son of William V. and Eleanor Allen Jones, who preceded him in death. He married Eileen Fellmann on December 27, 1969, in New Jersey; she preceded him in death on September 16, 2018.
Ken was a 1967 graduate of Somerville High School in Somerville, New Jersey. He served three years in the United States Army and in Vietnam as an aircraft mechanic. Ken attended the Spartan School of Aeronautics and earned a degree in Airframe and Power Plant Technology. He worked for 35 years at Standard Aero in Springfield and held positions as a mechanic, electrician, inspector, department manager, and project manager. Through the years, Ken enjoyed cars, especially his corvette, fishing, playing cards, long walks, being outdoors, and boating with his family. He was a proud grandpa who loved watching his grandchildren grow and play, being the biggest kid of all. Ken was a member and past treasurer of the Central IL Corvettes club, he served on the Board of Directors for Sunset Lake for 5 years, was a member of VFW Post 10302, and part of the Tuesday morning men’s group at Springfield First United Methodist Church.
Ken is survived by his significant other, Joni Barker of Springfield; three children, Valerie (David Lane) Cowen of Chatham, Mike (wife, Rita) Jones of Antioch, IL, and Kathy (husband, Scott) Andring of Springfield; six grandchildren, Dalton, Jonathan, Zander, Maisy, Nora, and Jack; two brothers, Douglas (wife, Jane) Jones, Bruce (wife, Chae) Jones; sister, Jac (husband, Doug) Holland; son-in-law, Tait Cowen; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and many of his children’s friends who he loved and treated like his own.
Cremation will be provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies.
Memorial Gathering: Family will receive friends from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Monday, December 27, 2021, at Butler Funeral Home-Springfield, 900 S. Sixth St., Springfield. IL COVID-19 guidelines will be followed, requiring masks.
Graveside Ceremony: 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at Camp Butler National Cemetery with Rev. Roger Grimmett officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Department of Defense and the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County.
