Kevin “Whitey” J. Melton, 51, of Springfield, died at 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 22, 2007 at his home. Kevin was born on December 13, 1955 in Springfield, the son of Donald J. and Patricia Schneider Melton, who preceded him in death. He is also preceded in death by one brother Keith A. Melton. He graduated of Southeast High School, class of 1973. He worked for the State of IL in rehabilitation services for 18 years. He retired in 2006. He is survived by one son: Joseph N. Melton, of Inez KY; two sisters; Deanna L. (Brian) Duling of Phoenix, AZ; Theresa M. (Fiancé Eric Brackett) Melton, of Springfield, and one niece: Andrea M. Duling, of Phoenix, AZ. Cremation accorded by Butler Tribute Cremation Tribute Center. The family welcomes friends to visit from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 25, 2007 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Funeral Ceremonies will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, October 26, 2007 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home with Rev. Msgr. John R. Ossola Celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
