Larry Walsh

Larry Walsh, 73, of Loami, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Monday, August 22, 2016. Larry was born February 26, 1943 in Springfield, the son of Robert "Pie" and Dorothea Crawford Walsh. He married Judy Ewing Orme on September 13, 1974 in Riverton. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his twin brother, Jerry Walsh. Larry graduated from Williamsville High School in 1963. He retired from Horace Mann after 23 years of service as a computer operator in the print shop. He later worked as a bus driver for Ball-Chatham School District, Pleasant Plains and New Berlin. Larry served on the Sangamon County Rescue Squad for 18 years and as a Williamsville Volunteer Fireman. He was a member of Loami Christian Church, the Riverton-Lavely Lodge #786 AF&AM, Scottish Rite, and Ansar Shrine. He served as Master of several Masonic Lodges including Loami, Divernon, Williamsville, and Riverton. He was also past patron of Lalla Rookh Order of the Eastern Star Chapter in Chatham. Larry enjoyed his dogs, fishing, camping, gambling, going to the Muni, and playing canasta with his family. He is survived by his wife, Judy; son, Ronald (Coleen) Orme; two daughters, Dawn Melcher and Dana (Chad) Wallace; fourteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Roger Walsh; half-sister, Freddie Riepshoff; aunt, Dorothy Lawson; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 25, 2016 at Loami Christian Church, 309 E. Center St., Loami. Masonic Rites will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Additional Visitation and Funeral Ceremony: Additional visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Ceremony at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 26, 2016 at Loami Christian Church, with Rev. Anthony Bliss officiating. Burial will be at Walnut Hill Cemetery at 2:00 p.m., following the luncheon. Memorial contributions may be made to the Loami Christian Church, P.O.
