

Leslie "Les" Daniel Carlier, 50, of Springfield, went home to heaven at 10:10 a.m. on Saturday, March 8, 2008 at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, IL. Les was born January 22, 1958 in Springfield, the son of Kenneth and Joyce Dodson Carlier. Les graduated from Springfield High School and attended Lincoln Land Community College. He was a self-taught mycologist and loved to be in and study nature. Mushroom hunting was a favorite hobby of his, as was fishing. Les studied and lived the Bible and was very devout in his Christian faith. He was a very gentle, kind, accepting person and will be deeply missed. He was preceded in death by his loving parents and beloved brother, Lyndl Carlier in 1972. He is survived by two sisters, Loretta (husband, John, Jr.) Garretson of Naperville and Linda Badger of Springfield; two brothers, Larry (wife, Betty) Carlier of Medical Lake, WA and Lowell Carlier of Houston, TX; four nieces; five nephews; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Cremation was accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center. Family will receive friends for a memorial gathering from 11:00 a.m. until time of memorial ceremony at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield with Scott Brindley officiating.
