He was born in Springfield, IL on November 2, 1929, the son of Cokie and Pearl (Killen) Buhr. Lester married Josephine A. Aiello in Springfield on December 19, 1951.
Lester attended Lanphier High School in 1944. He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1951-1953. Lester worked and retired from Pillsbury after 42 years. He was a faithful member of St. Aloysius Church in Springfield. Lester enjoyed trap shooting, bowling, and playing cards with friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Josephine; younger brother, William Buhr; and his wife, Martha Buhr of Joliet, IL.
Lester is survived by his son, Lester C. Buhr Jr.; wife, Jan Buhr of Naperville, IL; daughter, Gloria Buhr of Springfield; grandchild, Lindsay Tega and husband Brian Tega; as well as great grandson, Vincenzio Tega.
Memorial Gathering: Family will receive friends on Friday, January 31, 2025, from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at Butler Funeral Home- Springfield, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield.
Inurnment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
