

Lillie Young Kunz, 96, of New Berlin, passed away at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, March 5, 2017 at Sunny Acres in Petersburg, IL. Lillie was born on January 10, 1921 in Ridge Farm, IL, the daughter of John Tunis and Jennie Myrtle (Baldwin) Young. Lillie was a graduate of East Prairie Missouri High School and took some classes at Lincoln Land Community College. She was retired from the State of Illinois Department of Revenue. Lillie was involved with the Sangamon County Fair for over 30 years and frequently served as a judge of artwork entries. She enjoyed hobbies that included, but were not limited to, ceramics, cake decorating and baking, quilting, doll and stuffed animal making, furniture refinishing and caning, woodworking, gardening, and family genealogy. Lillie served many years in Baptist churches of Illinois and Missouri. As a currently active member of the New Life Baptist Church in Waverly, she had volunteered and worked in almost every capacity from nursery and children's teacher in Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, to kitchen and hospitality, to church clerk and church treasurer, to missionary trips, both at home and abroad. For many years, she managed the food pantry program as well. While always joyfully addressing her tasks for Christ and her family, etc., you can accurately identify "Miss Lillie" as a servant with a smile. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Louis R. Kunz; her second husband, Edwin J. Kunz; her daughter, Barbara L. Humphrey; granddaughter, Patricia Silveus; great-grandson, Caleb Bridges; sister, G. Irene Thresher; three brothers, Charles L., Morris D., and Gene T. Young; and daughter-in-law, Karen York. She is survived by four children, Louis J. (wife, Linda) Kunz of Kincaid, Joseph D. Kunz of Petersburg, Sue I. (husband, Kenneth) White of Springfield, and Charles W. (wife, Trudy) Kunz of Elkhart, IN; son-in-law, Harry R. Humphrey, Sr. (wife, Barb) of Alton; twelve grandchildren, Sandra Bridges (husband, Mark), Harry R. "Butch" Humphrey II (wife, Cathey), Logan Kunz, Loren (wife, Jessica) Kunz, Lydia (husband, J.D.) Darden, Aaron (wife, Liz) Kunz, Ryan Kunz, Kenneth (wife, Megan) White, K. Elizabeth (husband, Andre) Bouravnev, Charles "Chuck" Kunz II (wife, Abby), Amy (husband, Bobby) Joy, and Derek Kunz; and numerous great and great-great-grandchildren. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 9, 2017 at McCullough-Delaney & Butler Funeral Home, 714 East Gibson St., New Berlin. Cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center following visitation. Memorial Ceremony: 11:30 a.m. on Friday, March 10, 2017 at Meadowbrook Baptist Church, 111 North Iris Dr., Auburn, IL, with Pastor Jerry Darden of the New Life Baptist Church, Waverly, officiating.
