Linda Barbara Groves

Linda Barbara Groves went to meet the Lord on Tuesday, September 28, 2010. Linda was born July 9, 1942 at St. Mary's Hospital in Decatur, the daughter of John and Dorothy Angleton Young. She married Charles Matthews and together they had seven children. Linda attended St. Teresa High School in Decatur and finished her high school education in Elizabethtown, KY. She also attended Valley College in San Bernardino, CA. Linda retired from San Bernardino Unified School District where she worked as a transportation specialist. She also managed Facilities for Laidlaw Transit and Mayflower bus companies. She was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents and two children, Charles E Matthews, Jr. and Teresa Lynn Borero. She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Charles L. Groves, her brother and his wife, Lawrence & Nancy Young; her five children, Veronica Matthews, Bess Getman, John Matthews, Barbara Nye, and Paulette Hubbard; seventeen grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren. Family will receive friends from 4:00 7:00 p.m. on Monday, October 4, 2010 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. A funeral ceremony will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Bob Swickard officiating.
