Lois Wainer Bass

Lois Wainer Bass, 73, of Springfield, passed away on Friday October 21, 2016 at her residence. She was born on December 21, 1942 in Chicago to Ben and Adele Wainer. Lois married Dr. Richard Bass on August 26, 1967 in Chicago and he survives.

Lois is also survived by her son David (Denise) Bass of Highland Park, her daughter Alyson (Jeff) Bass-Rettig of Auburn, seven grandchildren: Sarah, Ben, Rachel, Ella, Max, Anna, and Zoe, and her brother Larry (Maureen) Wainer of Houston, Texas.

Mrs. Bass graduated from the University of Texas and taught fourth grade in Elk Grove Village before moving to Springfield to help raise her family. She was a member of Temple Israel where she served as a Past President, the Temple Israel Sisterhood, and a Life Member of Hadassah. Lois devoted her life to caring for and supporting her family and especially enjoyed baking with her grandchildren. She was the love of her husband’s life.

A graveside service will be held at 11:30am on Tuesday October 25, 2016 at Oak Ridge Cemetery with Rabbi Barry Marks officiating.
