

Lois Ruth Suckow Davis, 76, of Springfield, died on Sunday, May 25, 2008 at Memorial Medical Center. Lois was born on July 29, 1931 in Chicago, the daughter of Elmer August John and Lillian Myrlin Suckow. She married Kenneth Wayne Davis on February 9, 1957 at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Springfield. Lois taught at Hay-Edwards School early in her career, and later worked at Circle Tour and Travel. She taught the 3-year-old Sunday School at Westminster Presbyterian Church for 31 years. Lois was an active member of Questers, PEO (past president), and the Women's Symphony Guild. She belonged to Chi Omega sorority at the University of Michigan. Lois was a member of the Junior League of Springfield where she was Sustainer of the Year. She was president of the Springfield Area Arts Council and the Land of Lincoln Girl Scout Council where she was also a troop leader. Lois also chaired a division of the Capital Fund Drive for Memorial Medical Center. Lois volunteered at Goodwill, the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum, and DANK. She loved her dog, Hope, enjoyed her Bridge Clubs and Night Hawks, loved travelling with her husband and you just wouldn't believe all the other things Lois has done or been involved with! Preceding Lois in death were her parents, sister, Elynor Harris, and brother, Warren Sucoe. She is survived by her husband, Ken of Springfield; her daughters, Kathy Stittsworth of Springfield and Jennie (husband, Eric) Moy of Indianapolis; her son, Dr. Mark E. (wife, Pam) Davis of Galesburg; her grandchildren, Abigail Davis of Springfield, Benjamin and Lyndsay Moy of Indianapolis, Keegan and Delaney Davis of Bethlehem, PA; and a sister-in-law, Donna Davis of Bella Vista, AR; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 29, 2008 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 533 S Walnut St., Springfield, IL 62704 with Dr. Lonnie H. Lee and Rev. Mark Merrill, officiating. Burial ceremonies will be private. Industrial Dr., Elmhurst, IL 60126. The family of Lois Davis is being served by Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home.
