

Lonnie was born on July 27, 1929 in Eldorado, Illinois, the daughter of Alonzo Lee and Madge Mason Miller Gallagher. She married Robert M. Adams on March 17, 1951 in Springfield; he preceded her in death on February 23, 1998.
Lonnie was a graduate of Rochester High School. She retired from First National Bank, now US Bank, after more than 45 years of service. Lonnie was outspoken, determined, an advocate for women’s rights in the workplace, and always believed she knew best.
She was many things in life, but most importantly, she was Irish, Catholic, and a Democrat. Lonnie enjoyed working, shoe shopping, trying new restaurants with her friends, and doing a crossword puzzle every morning. One of the many highlights of her life was visiting her ancestral home of Ireland. Lonnie was a member of Altrusa International, the Dana Thomas House Board, and the American Business Women’s Association.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Levi; and one sister, Ilene.
She is survived by her son, Jamie (wife, Deborah) Adams of Springfield; three grandchildren, Courtney Adams of Springfield, Emily (husband, Jon) Erickson of Decatur, and Connor Adams of Springfield; and one great-grandchild on the way.
Visitation and Funeral Mass: Family will receive friends from 10:30 – 11:15 a.m. on Thursday, June 22, 2017 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 245 North Amos Avenue, Springfield. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11:30 a.m. with Rev. Robert J. Jallas, celebrant. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
