Loren Matthew Cullen

Loren Matthew Cullen, 75, of Springfield, passed away at 4:20 p.m. Tuesday, February 5, 2002 at Memorial Medical Center. Loren was born July 8, 1926 the son of Thomas Frances and Zorah Belle French Cullen in Springfield. He married Mary Kathryn Daley in 1950 at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Decatur. Mr. Cullen was employed as Regional Manager for Amoco Oil Company; he retired in 1985 after 36 years. He served during WWII in the U.S. Navy receiving the American Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, Navy Occupation Service Medal with Asia Clasp, WWII Victory Medal, Honorable Service Lapel Button and Navy Honorable Discharge Button. He was also a member of St. Cabrini Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother: Thomas J. Cullen and one sister: Elaine F. Cullen. He is survived by his wife: Mary Kathryn of Springfield; four sons: Daniel (wife, Peggy) Cullen of Athens, William (wife, Karen) Cullen of Sarasota, FL, Christopher (wife, Elizabeth) Cullen of Rochester, Shawn (wife, Tammy) Cullen of Springfield; two daughters: Marygael Cullen(husband, Jim Veselenak) of Springfield, Colleen (husband, Steve) Hagenbruch of Peoria; two brothers: Donald F. (wife, Jackie) Cullen of Springfield, Eldon Cullen of Palm Springs, CA; one sister: Dona Figone of Springfield; fifteen grandchildren and one great grandchild. Friends may call at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home from 4-8:00 p.m. Friday, February 8, 2002 with a wake service at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, February 9, 2002 at St. Francis Cabrini Catholic Church with Reverend Rodney Schwartz celebrant. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
