
Loretta Ann Maher, 82, of Franklin Grove, IL, passed away Sunday, January 6, 2002 at Franklin Grove Nursing Center. Loretta was born the daughter of John J. and Bertha Kiehl Donelan in Springfield. Ms. Maher was a graduate of Ss. Peter and Paul Grade School, Sacred Heart Academy, Springfield Junior College and University of Illinois. She worked as a social worker for the Department of Children and Family Services, retiring in 1986 after 20 years of service. She was an active member of American Association of University Women, Ladies Choice Investment Club, Alpha Gamma Delta Alumna and St. Agnes Church. She was a long-time board member of Attention Homes for Youths. Loretta enjoyed friends, family, bridge, reading, golf, traveling and a good Irish joke. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother: John J. Donelan, Jr. and his wife, Erma; one sister Mary Donelan and one grandson: Jason Lawing. She is survived by two sons: Robert James (wife, Melody) Maher, Jr. of Harvey, LA, Michael (wife, Roberta Bieck) Maher of Shorewood, WI; two daughters: Patricia (husband, Dale) Carroll of Rochelle, IL, Judith (husband, Raymond) Lawing of Brentwood, IN; two sister: Clara Hayes of Springfield; Helen Donelan of Springfield; five grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home from 4-7:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 9, 2002. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 10, 2002 at St. Agnes Catholic Church with Very Reverend Patrick Wright V.F. celebrant. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
