Lorraine “Layne” C. Andruskevitch, 88, of Springfield, died at 8:33 p.m. on Saturday, June 16, 2007 at River Birch Assisted Living. Lorraine was born July 21, 1918 in St. Louis, the daughter of Elmer J. and Adele Johnson Walker. She married John F. Andruskevitch in June 1949 in Chicago; he preceded her in death in 2006. When Lorraine was 18 she began working as a shoe model in St. Louis for Brown Shoe Company. She was later employed by the Illinois Department of Revenue where she worked for seven years. She belonged to several bridge clubs and was past president of the Rochester Woman’s Club. Lorraine enjoyed dancing, spending time with her family and traveling, especially cruises with her husband to the Caribbean and Alaska. She was also preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her daughter: Linda (husband, Gregory) Winnick of Springfield; and grandson: Andrew Winnick. Family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 19, 2007 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 20, 2007 at Camp Butler National Cemetery with Rev. Msgr. David S. Lantz officiating.
