
Louie James Koop, 82, of Seymour, MO, formerly of Springfield, died at 11:20 a.m. on Sunday, January 21, 2007 at Cox South Hospital in Springfield, MO. He was born on January 9, 1925 in Cloud Chief, OK, the son of Samuel Johnson and Helen Valentine Koop. He married Norma Andreatta in 1986 in Springfield; she preceded him in death on January 15, 2002. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force receiving the national Defense Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Army Occupation and Air Crew Member Badge.. He was employed as a bus driver for Orange County, California for fifteen years and also served as a volunteer for the Orange County Police Department. He was also preceded in death by his parents; four brothers: William Lloyd Koop, Ben Koop, Leslie Koop and Aaron Koop and one sister: Eleanor Ruth Koop. He is survived by six sisters: Alva (husband, Billy Joe) Maddox of Seymour, MO, Della (husband, William) Manley of Lubbock, TX, Jane (husband, Artie) Holman of Fort Worth, TX, June Kuchar of Altus, OK, Mildred Miller of Lubbock, TX and Margie (husband, Tom) Wilson of Leslie, AR; two brothers: Earl (wife, Helen) Koop of Carrolton, AL and Marion John Koop of Amarillo, TX and many nieces and nephews. The family welcomes friends to visit from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 24, 2007 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 2119 N. 20th St., Springfield. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 24, 2007 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, with Rev. Mark A. Schulte celebrant. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery, where the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County and the Department of Defense will perform military honors.
