Louie was born on May 10, 1924, in Auburn, the son of Louie Plumier, Sr. and Celina Plumier. He married Marylin G. Long on April 3, 1954, in Springfield; she preceded him in death on October 3, 2014.
Louie was a graduate of Auburn High School. He served in the 284th Signal Pigeon Corps of the United States Army during WWII. Louie worked for Federated Funeral Directors of America and Springfield Mass Transit. He was a “Mr. Fixit” and spent time wood carving, doing carpentry work, and maintenance. He raised and raced pigeons as a young man and enjoyed biking into his 80s. He was a gentle family man, who never complained and read his bible often.
He was also preceded in death by his two sisters, Rosalie Buchanan and Valeria Heffernan.
He is survived by three children, Edward (Sheri) Plumier of Lanesville, IN, Howard (Marsha) Plumier of Hopedale, IL, and LouAnn (Steve) Kunzeman of Chatham, IL; seven grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.
Visitation and Funeral Ceremony: Family will receive friends from 10:00 until 10:45 a.m. on Thursday, October 12, 2023, at West Side Christian Church, 2850 Cider Mill Ln, Springfield. A Funeral Ceremony will be held at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Cindy Lash officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
