

Lou was born July 1, 1947, in Springfield, the son of Donald E. and Celeste Dove Redpath. He married Laura Beck on July 7, 1979, in Springfield.
Lou was a graduate of Lanphier High School and received his police certification through the University of Illinois. He proudly served his country in the Army National Guard. Lou was a sheet metal worker for 15 years. He then became a police officer and worked for the Springfield Police Department having also served as a Crime Prevention Specialist, retiring after over 20 years of service.
Lou was a mentor to many through work and the community. He coached baseball, football, and softball for several years. Lou enjoyed camping, canoeing, watching and playing sports. He was also an avid Chicago Bears fan, enjoyed woodworking, and spending time with his family.
Lou was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Donald Redpath, Jr. and Earl “Doc” Redpath.
He is survived by his wife, Laura Redpath of Springfield; daughter, Amber Lynn (Clifford) Redpath Conrad of Springfield; son, Louis Christopher IV (Michelle) Redpath of Tequesta, FL; four grandchildren, Carson and Austin Conrad and Enrique and Louis Alejandro Redpath; siblings, Karen (Bill) Becker, Sharon (Danny) Paoni, Cathy (Ron) Mumaw, Retha (Jim) Riemer, Chuck (Bambi) Redpath, and Michael A. Redpath, all of Springfield and Sue (Greg) Renaud of Aurora, IL; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation: Family will receive friends from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 23, 2021, at Butler Funeral Home-Springfield, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield, IL. There will be a police walk-through at the beginning of the visitation.
Funeral Ceremony will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 24, 2021, at Butler Funeral Home-Springfield with Rev. Clint Cook officiating. Due to COVID restrictions there will be limited capacity. For this who wish to view the ceremony livestream, you may do so by visiting here.
Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park with military honors provided by the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County.
