He was born in Mt. Sterling on October 5, 1938, the son of Otto and Frances (Hammer) Shoopman. Butch married Mary Branson in Jacksonville on June 15, 1973.
Butch proudly served his country in the United States Army. He went on to work at the comptroller’s office at a print shop and also worked at Springfield Memorial Hospital. In his spare time, Butch was an avid golfer and loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Julianne Shoopman; and eight siblings.
Butch is survived by his wife, Mary; son, Kirk Shoopman of Springfield; grandchild, Kye C. Shoopman; and siblings, Jerry Shoopman and Elizabeth “Betty” Parker.
Cremation was provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center.
The family will host a Graveside Service at Camp Butler National Cemetery on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at 2:00 p.m.
