

Louis (Loretto) Victor Viele, 84, of Springfield died on June 30, 2013. He was at home and surrounded by his family. He was born on July 13, 1928 in Springfield to Victor and Susanne (Antonacci) Viele. He married Betty Ramey on September 4th, 1948 and she preceded him in death on August 24, 2010. Also preceding him in death were his parents.
Survivors include daughter Sandra (Thomas) Phillips of Romeoville, son William (Gail) Viele of Springfield, and daughter Janet (Robert) Steele of Riverton; 6 grandchildren Amanda (Josh) Hade, Shane Viele, Brandon Viele, Jeremy Viele, Jarrod “J.R.” Steele, Alecia Steele, great grandchildren Hannah Viele and Justin Hade, many nieces, nephews, cousins, great nieces, great nephews, step grandchildren, and step great grandchildren.
Louis attended St. Aloysius grade school, and attended Cathedral high school where he played football and was a Cyclone lineman. He worked at Pepsi, the Secretary of State, owned and operated the “Village Inn” in the 70’s, manager of Fairview Tavern, and worked 25 years as manager of Saputo’s Restaurant. He was a member of St. Aloysius Church. He enjoyed golfing, casinos, SHG football, watching NFL football, listening to big band music, and spending time with his family. His talents included playing the piano, the organ, and the accordion.
Family and friends are welcome to attend services on Monday, July 8th, 2013 at St. James Church, 112 N. 6th, Riverton, IL
Visitation: 4:30-5:30 pm
Memorial Mass: 5:30 with Reverend Raphael Paul DeMoreno officiating.
Celebration Meal: immediately following the service at the St. James Church hall.
The family request in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s Hospice.
Boardman-Smith Funeral Chapel is serving the family.
