Margaret Peg Huffman

Margaret “Peg” Huffman died at 2:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 in Dixon, Illinois. Peg was a long time Dixon resident with her husband, Don, who preceded her in death in 2004. They resided in Dixon for more than 40 years before moving to Ocean Springs, Mississippi. Peg returned to Dixon after Don’s death.

Peg was born as the second child to Kenneth and Margarett (Morley) Winn on May 30, 1931. She grew up in Springfield, Illinois and graduated from Lanphier High School and Springfield Junior College before marrying Don in 1952. She was an avid sports fan and enjoyed golf as a member of Dixon Country Club and Gulf Hills Country Club in Ocean Springs.

Peg was very dedicated to her children, grandchildren, and husband. She was also very proud of the multiple times she was able to meet with President Ronald Reagan while he was in office and after he left office. She also worked as a volunteer in his boyhood home in Dixon.

Peg is survived by her son Jeff (wife, Terry) in Bryan, Texas and daughters Susan Reilly (husband, Steve) in Jamestown, Ohio and Donna Gallentine (husband, Kyle) in Dixon. She had seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Also surviving Peg are sister-in-laws Marilyn Winn in Springfield and Marilyn Karr in Mason City.

Peg will be laid to rest next to her husband and parents in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Springfield.

Visitation: Family will receive friends from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at Boardman-Smith Funeral Home, 800 South Grand Ave. West, Springfield.

Funeral Ceremony: 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at Boardman-Smith Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
