Margaret "Peg" Broderick, 88, of Springfield, died at 2:50 a.m. on Friday, June 9, 2017 at St. Johns Hospital. Peg was born October 19, 1928 in Springfield, the daughter of William A. and Daisy Moffat Schafer. She married Edgar A. Broderick on August 1, 1947; he preceded her in death. Peg graduated from Springfield High School, class of 1947. She worked for Horace Mann from 1970 until around 1988. She was a member of Christ the King Church and Postal Club (now known as Firefighters Club). Peg was a loving woman and enjoyed crafts, knitting, playing bridge, and crossword puzzles. Peg was also preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her sons, William (Carla) of Loami and John of Springfield; grandchildren, Courtney of Springfield and Michael of Miami, FL; and two great-grandchildren, Kyra and Mason. Visitation and Funeral Ceremony: Family will receive friends from 9:30 - 10:15 a.m. on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th Street, Springfield, followed by the ceremony at 10:30 a.m. with Celebrant Judy Woerner officiating.
