

Margaret E. Steele, age 84 of Springfield passed away on Monday, May 27, 2002 at St. John’s Hospice. She was born April 13, 1918 in Springfield, Illinois, the daughter of William E. and Margaret E. Kennedy Brennan. She married William Steele Sr. on February 18, 1939 at St. Agnes Church in Springfield. Mrs. Steele was a member of St. Aloysius Church. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Margaret was a diehard Cub fan. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers: William and Francis Brennan. Surviving are her husband; William V. Steele, Sr. of Springfield, one son: William “Bill” (wife, Rosemary) Steele, Jr. of Springfield, two daughters: Paula (husband, Paul) Lawler of San Antonio, TX and Penny (husband, Eddie) Huelsman of Plano, TX., 15 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, several aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home from 5 – 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 29, 2002. Visitation will begin with a wake service at 5:00 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, May 30, 2002 at St. Aloysius Church with Reverend John Titus celebrant. Burial will follow in Camp Butler National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s Hospital Hospice Program, 800 E.
