Margaret Ann Wieties

Margaret was born December 30, 1916 in Ione, OR the daughter of Somers and Bertha Acre McDermott. She married Albert Wieties April 9, 1937 in Springfield; he preceded her in death in 1987. She was also preceded in death by her parents.

Mrs. Wieties was employed by the State of Illinois as an Executive Secretary where she retired. She was a member of the National Secretaries Association, Retired State Employees Association, St. John’s Lutheran Church Maranatha Class, Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Ladies Auxiliary, Animal Protective League, American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) Kings Daughters Home, and the Sangamon County Home Extension Prairie Unit. She was also a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. She enjoyed reading, painting, travel, bowling and ceramics

She is survived by one son: Larry (wife, Rebecca) Wieties of Springfield; two daughters: Judi Wieties-McCaffrey of Springfield, Pam Wieties of Springfield; four grandchildren: Jodie (husband, Mark) Hovey of Springfield, Lori Wieties, Karen Wieties both of Springfield, Kris (husband, Mike) Jakubick of Odenton, MD; six great grandchildren: Ryan and Sarah Hovey of Springfield, Kari Everist of Springfield, Nick Vail of Springfield, Kelli and Kati Jakubick of Odenton, MD; one brother: Edwin (wife, Norma) of Yarmouth, ME; two sisters-in-law: Doris (husband, Carrol) Woods of Springfield, Anita Hayes of Springfield and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Family will receive friends from 5-8:00 p.m. Friday, August 20, 2004 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 21, 2004 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield with Rev. Jerene Houser officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
