

Margo A. Kemp, 68, of Springfield, formerly, of Rochester, passed away at 2:20 p.m. on Thursday, October 25, 2018 at St. Johns Hospital. Margo was born on August 28, 1950 in Morrison, IL, the daughter of Kenneth E. and Ellen M. (Stanbro) Benters. She married Robert H. Kemp on October 13, 1973 in Springfield. Margo was first and foremost a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. She was fierce in her determination to be a role model for her daughters and to raise them to be strong and courageous, kind and caring, moral and ethical, independent women. She graduated from Lanphier High School, attended LLCC, and graduated from Patricia Stevens modeling school in St. Louis. Throughout her career, she worked in service to others, demonstrating her love of people as a teller at Rochester State Bank, cashier and front-end manager at National Supermarket, and a receptionist at Springfield Clinic. She was a Red Cross Swimming Certification Trainer and a member of the Rochester Mothers Club and the Rochester Booster Club. She enjoyed traveling and any activity involving her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Barry Benters; and one sister, Jeanne Schueler. She is survived by her husband, Robert Kemp of Springfield; two daughters, Michelle Kemp (companion, Don MacPherson) of Minneapolis, MN and Amanda Kemp (companion, David Kapp) of Fairfax, VA; three grandchildren, Gralyn Kapp and Quinn and Greta MacPherson; three siblings, Karen (husband, Gene) Burwell of Lincoln, Sheila Mantei of Springfield, and Kim (husband, Frank) Hollinshead of Springfield; and many nieces and nephews. The family will host a visitation from 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at Rochester Christian Church, 325 S. Walnut St., Rochester. A Memorial Service will follow the visitation at 4 p.m. with Pastor Brad Ferris officiating. Cremated remains will be interred at Oak Ridge Cemetery at a later date.
