

Marguerite was born on August 4, 1926, in Springfield, the daughter of Peter J. and Jessie Shaw Rafferty. She married William “Bill” E. Hoecker on September 19, 1953, in Springfield; he preceded her in death on October 8, 2001.
After raising her six children, Marguerite went on to work for Famous Barr/Macy’s, retiring at the ripe young age of 91. She and Bill were founding members of Christ the King Parish. She will be remembered for her devotion to her family, her sharp wit, her sense of fashion and her love of all things Irish.
She was also preceded in death by her son, Bill Hoecker, Jr.; her parents; and three sisters, Mary Louise, Katherine, and Dolores.
She is survived by her three sons, Gary (Kerry Simpson) Hoecker of Springfield, John (wife, Roslyn) Hoecker of West Palm Beach, FL, and Robert Hoecker of Springfield; two daughters, Patryce (husband, Greg) Nussbaum of Bloomington and Kristi (Phil Martin) Lanzotti of Springfield; daughter-in-law, Barb Hoecker; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one brother, Peter (wife, Janet) Rafferty, Jr.; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation and Funeral Mass: Family will receive friends from 10:00 until 10:45 a.m. on Friday, April 21, 2023, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 1930 Barberry Dr., Springfield. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Clinton Honkomp, OP, celebrant.
Private family burial will be held.
