Marie Archer

Marie Archer, 95, of Springfield, passed away Friday, June 9, 2017 at Auburn Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. She was born January 5, 1922 in Caneyville, KY to Becham and Valor Goff Fentress. She was preceded in death by her brother, Elliott Fentress and daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Archer.She moved to Springfield as a young woman in 1940 and sold Stanley Home Products after having a family. Marie began her entrepreneurial career in real estate, retiring after 24 years of service. She was a member of the Springfield Board of Realtors and served in leadership positions on various boards.She will be greatly missed by her sons, David L. Archer of Chatham and Richard E. Archer of Herrin; grandchildren, Jeremy (Anna) Archer of Spring Grove, IL and Major William (Sarah) Archer, US Army, of Anchorage, Alaska; great grandchildren, Cody and Jace Archer; sister, Geraldine Richardson of Springfield; nieces and nephews including Dorothy (Robert) Paoni of Springfield and Thomas (Diane) Richardson of Urbana. Her family will greet friends from 4-7pm, Tuesday, June 13, at Staab Polk Memorial Home, 8855 State Route 4, Chatham, IL, 62629. Funeral Ceremony will be at 10am, at Wednesday, June 14, at Staab Polk Memorial Home with Funeral Celebrant Paula Staab Polk officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
