Marie Ellen Klemm

Marie Ellen Klemm, 85, of Springfield, passed away at 9:00 a.m. Thursday, December 12, 2002 at St. John’s Hospice. Marie was born May 23, 1917 in Hamilton County, IL the daughter of Lando and Martha Jane Carlile Hall. She married Otto J. Klemm, Sr. May 6, 1936 in Kincaid, IL; he preceded her in death September 29, 1978. Mrs. Klemm moved to Springfield in 1960. She was employed by Myers Brothers as the credit manager for many years retiring in 1979. She was a Samaritan at the St. John’s Hospital Gift Shop and involved with the Widow/Widowers Support Group at St. John’s Hospital. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Chatham and a former member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Springfield. She was also preceded in death by her parents, three sisters: Pearl Fustin, Nellie and Grace Hall; four brothers: Oakley, Lester, Ophie and Leslie Hall and one grandson: Mark Andrew Klemm. She is survived by three sons: Otto J. (wife, Marie) Klemm, Jr. of Decatur, John W. (wife, Susan) Klemm of Springfield, Michael T. (wife, Rita) Klemm of Springfield; seven grandchildren: David (wife, Sherri) Klemm, Phillip (wife, Sheila) Klemm, Cynthia (husband, John) Vivian, Stephen Klemm, Kevin Klemm Courtney Klemm and Brian Klemm; six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home from 5-7:00 p.m. Sunday, December 15, 2002. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 16, 2002 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Chatham with Reverend Robert Franzen celebrant. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
