Marie Theresa Saputo, 88, of Springfield died at 1:20 a.m. Thursday, March 13, 2003 at Sangamon Care Center. Marie was born January 22, 1915 in Grandville, Illinois the daughter of Casimir and Mary Marchikaitis Shevokas. She married Russell J. Saputo; he preceded her in death November 1, 1980. Mrs. Saputo was a homemaker and a member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church. She was also preceded in death by her parents and three sisters: Bernice Dombrowski, Betty Barnes and Della Wike. She is survived by four sons: Larry (wife, Edna) Saputo of Springfield, Russell “Bud” (wife, Sharon) Saputo of Springfield, Joe (wife, Susie) Saputo of Rochester, Frank Saputo of Springfield; one daughter-in-law: Connie Hutchinson of Springfield; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; two sisters: Ann (husband, Fred) Danner of Lakeland, FL, Elsie (husband, Joe) Lenox of Sarasota, FL; two brothers: Bill and Jim Shevokas both of Springfield and several nieces and nephews. Private family services will be held with Rev. Msgr. Thomas P. Holinga officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the choice of the donor.
