Marie M. Scheidt

Marie was born May 1, 1927, in Milwaukee, WI, the daughter of Bernard and Margaret Puetzer Schneider. She married Robert D. “Bob” Scheidt on August 6, 1949, in Milwaukee, WI sharing nearly 70 years until his passing on July 25, 2019.

Marie graduated from Mercy High School in Milwaukee and worked at the telephone company, a bank, and a medical center. She was also a great homemaker. After retirement, Marie volunteered at St. Joseph’s Hospital for 40 years. She loved hiking with the Wisconsin Go Hiking Club where she logged more than 13,000 miles. Marie enjoyed attending Elderhostels, trips to Florida, exploring national parks, and Amtrak travel She mostly enjoyed shared time with family. Marie was well known for her crocheted afghans, baked cookies, peanut brittle, and buttermilk pancakes.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Lorraine Reichl and Mildred Horn; and son-in-law, Frank “Sam” Hartl.

Marie is survived by her daughter, Susan Hartl of Springfield; son, Jim Scheidt of Grand Junction, CO; grandchildren, Dan (Jennifer) Hartl of Springfield and Brian (April) Hartl of Tinley Park, IL; great-grandchildren, Ben, Sam, Miles, Elijah, and Grace Hartl; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Cremation was provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies.

Memorial Gathering and Funeral Mass: Family will receive friends from 10:30 until 11:45 a.m. on Friday, November 26, 2021, at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 245 N. Amos Ave., Springfield. A Funeral Mass will follow at 12:00 p.m. with the Very Rev. Daniel J. Bergbower, V.F., celebrant.

A Celebration of Life for both Marie and Bob will be held on Saturday, December 18, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:15 a.m. in the welcome center at Holy Apostles Church, 16000 W. National Ave., New Berlin, WI 53151. A graveside ceremony will follow at Holy Apostles Cemetery including military honors provided by the Department of Defense for Bob’s military service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
